Prior to founding Wehunt Trial Law, LLC in 2017 in order to begin representing the injured and their families, Buzz was an associate in the Atlanta office of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith and a member of the General Liability Practice, representing corporations and insurance companies in defending against negligence actions. His prior experience as a defense attorney gives Buzz a unique perspective in understanding how insurance companies work, which he now uses for his clients’ benefit. Buzz works hard to maximize every recovery for his clients. More specifically, Buzz focused his practice in the areas of products liability, transportation, premises liability, personal injury, toxic torts and environmental litigation, defending individuals and entities in all aspects of civil litigation from inception through resolution. Buzz has significant litigation experience in successfully drafting and arguing dispositive motions, including motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment. He is similarly experienced in conducting and defending depositions as well as negotiating settlements.
Before joining Lewis Brisbois, Buzz spent over five years at Moore Ingram Johnson & Steele, in its Marietta, Ga. office, as a general litigator, with a focus on contractual disputes involving large and small businesses, construction, land use, and real estate. In the past, he also served as counsel on behalf of various governmental entities, including General Counsel for the Cherokee County Board of Ethics.
Buzz was raised in Hoschton, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia where he was a two-year letter winner for the men’s varsity basketball program and was twice selected to the Southeastern Conference’s All-Academic Team. Prior to attending UGA, Buzz was The Athens Banner-Herald Northeast Georgia Basketball Player of the Year and The Gainesville Times Area Basketball Player of the Year. After completing his core requirements at UGA, Buzz transferred to the University of North Georgia where he received his Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in Political Science, served as captain of the men’s varsity basketball program and was an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American. Buzz went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law where he served as Junior Editor for The Journal of Legal Profession, President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and a member of the Capital Defense Law Clinic. He was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2011.
